Candle context after a quiet Asia session

Biz Intellix studio

A long lower wick at support looks decisive until you notice it printed into a three-hour Asia balance where every wick was long and every follow-through was absent. Candle context is the part of price action foundations that saves traders from collecting patterns like stamps.

Session character first

Before naming a candle, name the session’s behaviour: compressed, expanding, or transitioning. Seoul evenings often watch the handoff from Asia into Europe; the same shape that meant little at 02:00 KST may matter more once London adds participation.

Questions we ask in the room

  • What structure was already present when this candle printed?
  • Did volume or range expand with the rejection, or was it a lonely spike?
  • Where is invalidation if the next candle accepts back through the wick?

If you cannot answer the third question, the candle is decoration.

Mentoring angle

In private mentoring, we often replay a single morning’s candles against the prior day’s structure map. Traders are surprised how many “signals” dissolve once session character is spoken aloud.

Keep practising on your own charts between cohorts — and when the same misread repeats for three weeks, that is the moment mentoring tends to pay for itself in clarity, not in guaranteed fills.
